Providing Critical Child Care Services to Support Our Community

Posted in Giving Back / Maple Bear USA on Wednesday, May 13th, 2020

While many of us are doing our part for public health by sheltering at home, essential services workers are doing their part by working on the frontlines and supply lines of the COVID-19 pandemic response.

In addition to health care providers and emergency responders, there are many essential workers who are vital in supporting our communities. These workers often face long hours, stress and exhaustion. Many of these essential service workers are also parents and don’t have the option of working from home.

To support these essential service parents, all our Maple Bear learning centers in the United States are remaining open, providing reliable licensed childcare, supporting early learning, and following all the new safety regulations.

We haven’t changed our mission to provide high quality early childhood education and childcare. That mission has always been important, but now more than ever.

We’d like to salute every worker that’s supporting our community including those keeping our grocery stores stocked, making sure our homes have power, supporting the systems we use to stay in touch with loved ones, and especially those who keep us safe and healthy. We are here for you. It is our privilege to serve those who serve our communities.

Who are essential workers?

Essential workers include healthcare professionals, first responders, police and law enforcement workers, employees of grocery stores, utility companies, financial and truck drivers. Workers in the critical industries that maintain the infrastructure of our society, such as those in the energy, agriculture and transportation sectors, are also considered essential. Childcare has also been deemed an essential service by most states, including Texas and Arizona where Maple Bear learning centers are located.

There are a lot of people required to support our communities, including many behind the scenes workers. The Department of Homeland Security provides comprehensive list on their Critical Infrastructure Sectors website.

What sort of hygiene protocols are Maple Bear centers implementing?

  • Multiple temperature checks per day for each child
  • Reduced class sizes and social distancing practiced on premises
  • Access to facilities restricted to staff and students
